Myself and three friends just spent a 3 day weekend to try our luck for the anterless only deer hunt. We were quite impressed by the lodge and hospitality shown to us by Chuck and Aaron. The food was great, the sleeping quarters were magnificent, and even though the temperatures were close to zero, the inside accomadations were very warm. Though we came for the hunt, we walked away with a feeling more for what is trying to be accomplished by Chuck and his people and are grateful for being able to realize what that is. I will definitely stay in touch with this group of caring veterans. Sincerely; Steve "machine gun" Proffer...you had to be on the trip to know what the "machine gun" means!!

To ERO, thanks so much for having my husband on the recent hog hunt to the Purple Heart Ranch. For the last four years we have struggled with his mental health issues. This hunt was a new lease on life for him. He came home thrilled. I actually saw some of the person that he used to be before all the ugly stuff. He's had a spark of excitement ever since he got back. He's talked about going back to work on stands and just to help do fix-it things. He's also mentioned going to Iowa to do the same thing. It seems to have given him a new mission. Even his therapist said he's seen a difference. Thank you doesn't seem to be enough.

Chuck, Thank you for your hospitality and attention to detail. Our weekend was so much more than a deer hunt. It was a cathartic, bonding experience that I did not want to end. You, your family and friends gave us a weekend that provided camaraderie, HUMOR, awesome food, great hunting and the opportunity to be part of the English River Outfitters' saga. I cannot wait to get back down there again! Very Respectfully, Glen Gassman

My time at English River Outfitters saved my life! I have been admitted 3 times to the V.A. psychiatric department 3 time in the last three years. They mean the best, but they want to drug me up and make me someone I'm not! The fourth time I refused to go back. I just wanted to die! One time out to English River Outfitters showed me that I have a life to live and it's worth it!! I came out not expecting to be healed, but just to get away. More than that happened! I experienced a calm environment that was so overwhelming I had to share it with others. My son and I have had a bad few years relating. One weekend out there helped us to bond back together. It's not done but well started, because of our time at English River Outfitters. I hope soon to do the same with my Wife as we are struggling to continue a 22 year marriage. I have realized there that the stresses we put on ourselves are avoidable, with help! Just to hammer a nail or mow the grass helps make you part of this great project! I would not be here today except for my time spent at English River Outfitters!! SSG Art Yoe

Chuck. Just wanted to comment about the great time we had dear hunting on Jan. 29, 30, and 31. On Friday morning I shoot my first dear at about 7:15 in the morning. That was the first dear I ever shoot. It was within 250 yards of the camp site, along the eastern edge of the woods. I hit it at about 100 yards, to my surprize, with the first shoot I ever fired at a dear. Some might think that's beginners luck. The next morning I missed one at about 45 yards. It was within 20 or 30 yards of where I had gotten that first one. I just wish I had my M60. I can't thank you enough. (Do you have an M60?) Roger Hanson

Chuck, I just want you to know how much I appreciate what you're doing out at the "Veterans Resort". My brother and I enjoyed spending time out there deer hunting this past Sunday and Monday. We didn't get any deer but really enjoyed the serenity and had a good time. I stood at the entrance, just off the road and could clearly envision your final project, as you described it to me. I know it will take time. As I pull into that driveway, a few years from now, I'll stop and see the bunk house, Lodge, pond, some nice green space, walkways, flags waving, and maybe a couple old Vietnam veterans fishing, smiling. Thanks Chuck. Roger Hanson

Chuck, Thanks for the awesome weekend for Women Veterans Only! You guys are the only place that I know of that is going to be doing events with ALL veterans in mind. Imogene from Military One Source had some great information. The food rocked! I can't wait until the lodge gets up and you guys really get rolling!! If you managed such a great weekend for the Women with nothing but tents and a fire pit I can only imagine what the events will be like when the buildings are up. I met Sgt. Major Geertz while in Afghanistan, while I was serving as a Civilian Police Advisor. I found him to be an honorable, genuine person. After talking with him for a period of time, he shared with me this project. When I return to Florida, I plan on distributing this web site to everyone I can.
